Child Counselling and Play Therapy
Child Counselling and Play Therapy
Child-Centered and Synergetic Play Therapy are evidence-based approaches that use play as a child’s natural language. Through play, children are able to express thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
Child-Centered Play Therapy focuses on creating a safe, accepting space where the child leads the play. This helps children build self-awareness, emotional regulation, and confidence at their own pace.
Synergetic Play Therapy builds on this foundation by also supporting a child’s nervous system and emotional regulation. The therapist remains fully attuned, helping children notice and work through big feelings in a safe, supported way.
I meet individually with children for play therapy sessions and regularly connect with families to support progress outside the playroom. After every 4–5 child sessions, I meet with parents or caregivers to:
Share themes and observations
Offer practical strategies for home
Strengthen the parent–child connection
This collaborative approach ensures therapy supports not just the child, but the whole family, helping changes made in the playroom carry into everyday life.
